Min number of drives required to create XIO cluster

We have XIO array currently decommissioned in powered off state. After using some of drives for other expansion, its currently left with 16 drives. what are minimum number of drives required for XIO cluster formation.   License renewal is required, do we need to power on the XIO array ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

To create a Dell EMC XtremIO cluster, the minimum number of drives required is 18 SSDs, which make up a single building block known as an X-Brick[1].

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • X-Brick: The fundamental unit of an XtremIO system.
  • Minimum configuration: 1 X-Brick with 18 SSDs.
  • Scalability: You can scale up to 72 SSDs per X-Brick, and scale out by adding more X-Bricks.

Hello @Hari_bny

Assuming this is an X2 XtremIO array with 72 drive capacity disk array enclosure the minimal number of drives to create system is 18 drives.
If system was decommissioned after running, you will need to reimage the storage controllers to a base image to perform a fresh deploy.
