XPS13 Plus and Dock WD22TB4 Intel USB Bridge Device not keeping power management setting

XPS 13 Plus 9320

XPS 13 Plus 9320

Hi, everything worked for two years and now something changed - I'm guessing the Dell BIOS or Intel firmware but happy to be corrected.  I use a "second screen" via the WD22TB4 and when I unlock Windows 11 Pro it does not turn the screen on again (but it does unlock Windows!).  If I remove the dock cable from the XPS13P and plug it back in again everything springs back to life.

I believe I have tracked it down to the USB Power Management setting of the Intel USB Bridge Device.  If after startup I disable power saving everything is good.  However after shutdown/restart the power saving option is selected again:-(.

Anyone else seen this or able to give me a solution to disabling power saving please?  Thanks, Peter

Dell community seems to have taken a bit of "dive" in activity since I was here a year or two back:-(.

In case it is useful to someone, Dell Command Update prompted me to do updates last week.  One was the BIOS which was already at the latest 2.18.1 dated 24/12/2024.  I baby sat the install and sure enough it re-installed the same BIOS update again.  Now everything works again, my only conclusion is Dell knew something was "up"

 and rolled out the reflash...

This happens daily and in a repeatable fashion, although my XPS13P is out of first year support how do I report this as a bug" - any ideas?  Thanks, Peter

Trying more things with Extend and Duplicate screen settings...  After the monitor "sleeps" I can unlock the PC as the laptop screen turns on again, and it thinks the 2nd screen is present as it stays in Extended mode.  However the screen does not turn on...  If I unplug the WD22TB4 the PC reverts back to PC screen only as expected.  When I plug the WD22TB4 back in again it goes back to extended mode and the 2nd screen turns on!

Tried both WD22TB4 Display Ports and they behave the sam!

Any ideas appreciated, Peter
