XPS M1330, produced a burning smell
Hello,
Last month I tried turning on this 15 year old laptop to discover what I put on, but to my surprise it produced a burning smell, and turned off automatically. Don't know what caused it or how to fix it and a screw of the HDD is stuck, so I can't take it out.

It is almost certain to require a system board replacement - and with the total value of the system being somewhere between $20 and $50, not worth the cost.
There are a number of ways to work with a stripped computer screw:

How much does it cost to get it repaired?
and how much is a new machine of the same model?

Even buying used parts for repair will cost more than the system is worth -- these are worth less than $50 complete and working.
There is no same model machine available -- this system was new 15 or so years ago. An XPS 93xx would be the equivalent new model. You can price one on Dell.com.
