XPS 15 with third party USB-C charger goes into loops of reconnections
XPS 15 9520
Does dell XPS 15 support third party USBC 90W 100W chargers or not? In official documentation I do not see it supports ONLY DELL USB-C 90W. I see only it supports 90W and 130W. However when raised a ticket with dell support I get reply I need to buy dell charger which is obviously heavy and expensive compared to third parties. Tried with Aukey and Tecknet but getting the same issue.
I guess when laptop power spikes, like when clicking on Windows start button, power starts reconnecting endlessly. I fix it by physically removing USB-C cable and reconnecting.
This seems like a technical glitch to me that dell should just address. USB-C charging is a standard many have adopted.
Thanks

The only models that will work with a 100W or smaller capacity power supply are those with integrated video.
For an XPS 9520 with nVidia graphics, you need a 130W or larger capacity power supply.

Thanks, is there any link to formal documentation describing this?
The one on Dells website just lists 90W and 130W as compatible.
On average I use no more than 30watt when measuring. Not sure why it spikes ocassionally, i.e. even pressing start button. I guess its more like a bug if formal document doesn't mention limitations of 90W to that extent.

How come Aukey 90W and 100W Anker USB-C bowth have issues on little power spikes on XPS 9520 but not 65W HP USB-C? Original Dell charger is 130Wfine too, of course. Even when pressing Windows start button, power seems to spike somewhat and USBC delivery is dropped, then keeps reconnecting until I physically reconnect cable. Looking at power meter it briefly spikes occasionally or something as trigger for that.
XPS 9520 is with nvidia dGBPU but I am not using it. CPU usage is low, just few apps runnng. Usual laptop power usage around 30W.
Just tried HP 65W USB-C charger lying around and it doesn't go looping or disconnecting with Dell XPS 9520. Wow.
Is this something todo with the GaN chargers not having enough power buffer or some power profile not designed for laptops. Or is it about some too clever protocol built in those GaN chargers that are trying be too clever with laptop spikes?
