XPS 15 9520, G3223Q, HDR not supported in Windows

My G3223Q monitor is set to Custom HDR on the OSD. But when connected to my XPS 15 9520 via HDMI, Windows says it does not support HDR. I'm using XPS 15 9520 as my source and connected to HDMI port on the monitor through the USB-C dongle I got with my XPS 15 9520. It also doesn't run on 4K 144Hz, but only 1440p 120Hz or 1080p 144Hz. I'm guessing because the dongle does not have enough bandwidth?

Turns out the problem was the dongle. I purchased a thunderbolt to DP cable and now I have HDR working, and the cable also supports 144Hz over 4K.

Are you setup exactly as shown on page 7 in the XPS 15 9520 External Display Connection Guide? Note, the power connector is connected to the right side USB-C port. The USB-C dongle to the left side rear TB4 port.

Set the G3223Q Menu OSD- Displays- Smart HDR to Desktop.

In Windows, choose the resolution 3840x2160 from the Display Properties to try to force the proper HDR signaling. What happens?

@DELL-Chris M I changed the OSD setting to Desktop HDR. My display resolution was already 3840x2160, I tried switching and changing it back but still shows HDR not supported

I just tested the monitor with another laptop that has an HDMI port and HDR worked fine there
