Missing drivers after Win 11 install

Due to some issues on my old Windows install, Windows 10 updated to 11, I made a completely clean Windows 11 install to see if that would help. It didn't but I will come back to that in another thread.

After the update I also installed Dell Update/Assist to see if they would come up any needed, missing drivers. That sorted most things up but I still had two missing. One I solved with search function (Intel-Chipset-Device-Software_5MPRF_WIN_10.1.18121.8164_A09) but the other I can't figure out. So, what am I missing based on this information:

* PCI Device
PCI Slot 8 (PCI bus 60, device 0, function 0)
Device PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_525A&SUBSYS_087C1028&REV_01\00000001004CE00000 requires further installation.

* Unknown device
Location: on PCI Express Root Complex

It looks like that is the Realtek PCIe media card reader. You didn't tell us your laptop model, so I cannot look up on Dell's site to see if they have that driver for Windows 11. If not, you can try the Windows 10 driver. Or, get a driver from Realtek web site.

But, first, run Windows Update and check in optional updates for driver updates.

Sorry,
I thought the PC type and tag nr were attached to the message, looked like that.... Anyway, it's a XPS 15 9570.

The Dell site gave me Realtek Memory Card Reader Driver 10.0.16299.21305, A02 from 05 Jul 2018 and  so did Windows Optional updates.

Installed the Dell version and got rid of the 1st driver but the 2nd, unknown device is still there.

I've done several Windows updates and Dell updates and they have not managed to get rid of those exclamation marks in Device Manager so I still need your help to figure out this last one.

As mentioned in my response the 2nd device driver was still missing

* Unknown device
Location: on PCI Express Root Complex

Googling a bit further I found the thread "PCI Express Root Complex" from 2018. It says that when Device instance path is "ACPI\SMO8800\1" its the ST Micro Electronics Free Fall Sensor that's missing a driver.

In my case that would be "Dell-Free-Fall-Data-Protection_61J8J_WIN64_1.0.5.0_A01.EXE". But it's only supporting W10 and not W11 that I am currently running.

Had a look in my Windows 11's Drivers update and it offered “STMicroelectronics - System - 5/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2.2.5.2”. Installed that one and now all drivers are in place and Device Manager is "green".

Case closed

Thanks for the heads up Saltgrass! Currently I have no warnings in Windows Security but I will keep an eye on it!

If it turns out to be a problem I suppose I prefer to remove the driver and have a warning i Device Manager instead of disabling Memory Integrity. The laptop is more or less only used as a stationary PC so that shouldn't be a problems. And I have backups of everything

Just so you are aware, in many threads, there is an instance of an STMicroelectronics driver causing a problem for the Core Memory Integrity settings on the Device Security settings in Windows Security.

That driver seems to be a sensor used, in case you drop the system, to protect it.  If, this is the same driver, you may want to turn off Memory Integrity or do without the device.
