Microsoft Surface 7, DDM, Window 11 ARM 64, error installing

I am getting an error message when installing Dell Display Manager - version 2.3.1.  (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=98wwm

Error message is " This PC is not a Dell Display Manager supported ARM Platform.   I doubled check the page it says Windows 11 ARM64 in the supported operating system, and my Dell monitor is included in the Compatible Systems List.

My OS is Windows 11 ARM64.

@vauman

The FAQ states under, "What Operating systems and processors does Dell Display Manager (DDM) support?" =

DDM 2.x = ARM-based Dell computers with Windows 11 are supported. Non-Dell ARM-based computers are not supported
DDM 1.x = This is a legacy version and does not support ARM processor

What model Dell system do you have (or is this a system from another manufacturer)?

Seems like everyone with this problem here has a Microsoft Surface, so that may be the problem.  Dell's app may only work with Dell PCs.

And depending on which Dell monitor you're using, you may not even need the app.  Check to see if there's a 4-way (L/R, U/D) "toggle slider" on back of your monitor which provides direct access to the same settings the Dell Display Manager would show.

That is not the case for this issue. DDM supports Macs! and the compatibility list shows that it requires a Dell monitor to work, the manufacturer of the computer makes no difference, as long as it is a supported OS. The problem is that, despite saying that Windows 11 ARM64 is supported, it is clearly not...

DDM is a software KVM, allowing a custom keypress to swap inputs and is has "Easy Arrange" which creates a snappable, customizable grid to resize various programs.

@DELL-Chris M Thanks for pointing that out. I see now in the FAQ that it says "Non-Dell ARM-based computers are not supported." That is a disappointing decision by Dell to stop supporting an open ecosystem.

@vauman -  it is not just KVM, my main issue is 1) brightness control via the app (yeah, I can use the buttons in the monitor, but....)  and 2) the deal breaker for me is adjusting the monitor's color temperature either via Windows or 3rd party software like flux.

thank you for confirming that Dell does not support other manufacturers.  it is quite disappointing, and I was expecting that the utility is really supporting the windows ARM platform, and not just selected brands.  And why is this only a problem on ARM?  is this  the same for Windows on x86, does DDM limits only Dell laptops? I dont think so.  Would be good for Dell to let the customers know what is the limitation? or purely a commercial decision ?

cheers

Congratulations Dell.... you just became Apple SMH

Dumb move on Dell's part .... your monitors were special ONLY because of DDM .... time to look at others that are better....
