Same thing happened to my Desktop Dell XPS 8300 right after installing Windows 10 "Patch Tuesday" this week. 90% of memory is now consumed with Dell Data Management or Dell Instrumentation
I suddenly noticed a drastic slow down with extremely long boot times, sometimes not booting at all. Seriously considered a new system trying to take advantage of recent Black Friday sales. I finally remembered to open the Task Manage and discovered the Dell Data Management software was using excessive resources. Using the Windows 10 Settings with Uninstall option I removed the Dell Data Management Software and the computer is now working fine. Not sure if it was the correct thing to do but the computer is much faster, with quick boot times again. :)
System is an older Alienware X51 R2 purchased in 2013 (warranty expired 24 Dec 2014) c/w i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 16.0 GB RAM, 2GB NVIDIA GTX-670 video card, 2GB HDD (1.5GB free) one Dell U2713HM monitor & one Dell U2410 and Brother MFC-J485DW multifunction printer. TPM not usable.Clean install of Win 10 Home Ver 10.0.19045 on 31-Jan-2022 by a local computer store runningMcAfee Total Protection & Wise Care 365.
Thanks so much for the details on this! I am glad the workaround you found worked too.
We just received an update from the team on this:
Dell is aware of this issue that is impacting select systems and have identified the root cause. We are planning to begin pushing an update to SupportAssist version 4.6.3 on Tuesday, December 24th that will be automatically applied to the applicable systems when they come online.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and for the quick reply about what SupportAssist version your system is on.
@DELL-Brad L Thanks for the update. I attempted to download and install the updated SupportAssist (4.6.3). I downloaded the "install" file, but when I ran it, the merry-go-round just kept spinning and spinning for over an hour. Never installed. Are there some old bits and pieces hanging around preventing it from installing? Thanks.

@Dell-Brad L Hi Brad, Inn my earlier response I neglected to provide the correct answer to your question.
The version of of Dell Support Assist was 4.6.2.21388 .
I just did a search for it on my PC now and it did not appear so it must have been removed when I uninstalled the Dell Data Management software.
