XPS 8950, U2422H, DP not working
I have not had a desktop in over 10 years. I just got the XPS 8950 with the Ultrasharp U2422H monitor. I believe I am hooking everything up properly but not positive either since it's been so long. When setting up the system, the monitor will not show a picture using the DP cable. It powers on, but will go into standby mode saying no signal detected. I unplugged the DP cable and used a HDMI instead and now it works. Any ideas on the DP cable issue?
I tried contacting tech support and after 6 hours was told basically it could be 1 of 3 things and since we aren't sure which they couldn't help.
Another issue I am having is the keyboard that came with the computer will not work. On start up, I get a splash screen saying key board initiation failure. It gives an option to continue, bios setup, and diagnostic. I run the diagnostic and it shows pass on everything. I have tried different USB ports and still will not work. However, the USB mouse that came with the computer does work on any of the USB ports.
Am I doing something wrong or does it sound like bad equipment?
Thanks

If you have a video card, make sure you are using one of those outputs. If you are using the video card outputs try using a different display port output and I would also try a different cable. If none of that works try a HDMI cable. Also check the settings on the monitor and see if you have that set up correctly. You might have gotten a defective keyboard.

1. Nice monitor.
2. Be sure to understand and follow @kras1 post (all points).
3a. How do you see a splash-screen with no video?
3b. Use a different wired-USB keyboard for now (circle-back to this issue).

@pogohatesme As @kras1 stated, if you have a video card, make sure your monitor is connected to the video card. See page 5 of the Setup and Specifications, connected your DisplayPort card shown labeled as 'a' if you do not have a video card, or connect your DisplayPort cable shown labeled as 'b' if you do have a video card.
As for the keyboard, it may be defective. If you have a Windows laptop, you could connect your keyboard to it to see if it works. Most laptops should work with an external keyboard.

@pogohatesme A question about your keyboard error. It appears you are able to run diagnostics even with the keyboard error, so does the keyboard work except for the initial keyboard on boot up? After the system is booted up can you use the keyboard in Windows? If you are able to use the keyboard after the initial keyboard error you may wish to try disabling the Keyboard Error setting under POST Behavior in the BIOS. Normally you should not be getting a keyboard error but this setting is available.

Thanks for all the replies. After double and triple checking, I did not have the DP plugged into the correct port. It is now working with the DP cable.
@Vic384 thank you for the suggestion on the laptop. I had thought about that but wasn't sure. I did try it and no, the keyboard still does not work. I've had to use the onscreen keyboard, but will contact warranty support to see about a replacement now.
