XPS 8950, Logitech C922 webcam not detected on P2723DE

Hello everyone,

I have XPS 8950 desktop joined with P2723DE monitor. I want to use Logitech C922 webcam with it. Which USB port on the P2723DE should I use out of the 4 ports? PC doesn't detect the webcam when connected to any of these ports on the P2723DE? It works perfectly fine when connected to the back of the XPS. I prefer to keep it connected to the monitor. Is there a way I can make it work? Thanks.

If the P2723DE has an on-board USB hub, then there should be a up-stream USB-cable that must be connect to the computer itself (before it and its USB-ports will work).

You must first connect the USB type C port of the P2723DE monitor to your computer, then you can connect the webcam to any of the other 4 ports.

Yes, a 3m or 10ft similar like this one will work.  Be careful and not confusing with the charging cables

Thanks, Tesla1856 for the reply.

I am a novice so you will have to explain it to me in simple language.

Thank you Chino de Oro and Tesla1856,

It's working now. I connected USB C port of the monitor to XPS and then the webcam to the monitor. The only issue is that the Dell-supplied USB C cable is too short. I need an aftermarket 3m long USB C to USB C cable. Do you think that will still work?

Regards.
