XPS 8940 upgrade to a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
XPS 8940
Presently, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti card is installed.
Can I install an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090?
Would I need to upgrade the power supply?

RTX 4070 Super is the furthest you can go in the 40 series as it pulls the same 220-watt max TDP as the RTX 3070 that it can ship with. You will need 1 6 to 8-pin adapter to make it work as the secondary 6-pin is missing the 2 additional sense pins.
You also need the Dell 500-watt PSU.
You will need to use the 2 fan version, not the triple-fan version.

Whenever upgrading the graphics card, you must certainly upgrade the power supply as well. The RTX 4090 is a triple slot card and requires 450w power which can not be upgraded with the 8940.
