XPS 8940, front panel usb ports
Hi
Having issues with front panel usb ports. First I was getting error messages that not enough power was available, or something to that effect. Now it seems as the usb ports are physically broken as it is very difficult to attach to them. My question is, is this front panel replaceable and if so, what is the part number, etc. Thanks

unfortunately not easily replaceable as it is soldered as integral part of proprietary 8940 motherboard. unlike previous gen XPS 8930 where front panel is a separable part connected to motherboard via cable.

As I feared but expected. More money to be made by selling us entire motherboard than just some usb ports. Oh well, corporate America wins another one. Thanks for your reply and help redxps630!

Bit of an update on the power surge error. I purchased a USB hub to make up for/replace the dysfunctional front panel. Moved devices to that so I'm not using the front panel usb ports. However, I'm still getting the power surge error which implies I have a device plugged in that requires more power (cheesy Scottie joke locked and loaded). Or, is it something else? I went into device manager to remove/uninstall the usb port that was identified but it keeps coming back on. Can this be fixed? Thanks
