XPS 8940 - end of its service life
I asked dell for a price to renew the hardware support / warranty and the
response is no - end of its service life
Mine is 11th Gen i7-11700 @ 2.50 Ghz, so I feel this is far too early to be
refusing hardware support / warranty ?

The system was released in 2020 -- once five years passes, warranties can no longer be extended. The same is true for other manufacturers (and with some like Apple, it's a three year cutoff).
