XPS 8930, unable to install BIOS 1.1.27
XPS 8930
I went to Dell.com to download the 1.1.27 BIOS update for my XPS 8930 running Windows 11. I double-click the XPS8930_1.1.27.exe file, and it comes up with an error. "Error: Driver Version Fail!" I click okay and then it exits.
No Events found!

@dt9021 Lots of other threads about major problems with the XPS 8930 BIOS 1.1.27 update so read some of them. And be thankful it didn't install on your PC.
Immediately go into BIOS setup (F2 at boot) and disable UEFI Capsule Updates which should prevent Windows Update from installing this update without warning or permission.
You didn't mention what BIOS version you have now, but if it's recent (eg, 1.1.26) stay there. Do not let 1.1.27 get installed. Dell has been informed about the problem, so hopefully they'll release a new update without the problem.

Thanks, @RoHe. I turned off UEFI Capsule Updates, and I'll stick with the 1.1.26 BIOS for now.

I have the same problem, but I’m trying to install the 1.1.19 version in Windows 11

Preferred method for 1 or 2 other Rockstars: Download the BIOS file to a flash drive formatted to FAT32. Upon restarting, go into the F12 Boot & Diagnostics menu and select Flash Update option.

@Arthur Wajner - Why install BIOS 1.1.19 when the latest is BIOS 1.1.31 for XPS 8930?
Do you get any error messages when trying to install in Win 11?
If BitLocker is enabled on your boot drive, you need to temporarily disable it before installing any BIOS updates.
Installing BIOS updates from a (non-bootable) USB with the BIOS update .exe file on it is safest way. Plug that USB into PC with power fully off (not a Restart from inside Windows). Then power on tap F12 to open the menu. You want to select the Flash Update option to launch the update, not the option to boot from USB.
