XPS 8930, FirmwareTPM.exe crashes
Greetings,
Since end Nov 2022 reliability monitor logs app crashes for FirmwareTPM.exe on almost daily base. My system is on TPM 2.0 since purchase. As it seems related to Dell SupportAssist, I have today removed SupportAssist to see if this error goes away. Please share your experience in this and possible remediation.

Eventually TPM.exe stopped crashing and I am fine without Support Assist.
Dell Update is all I need.

My system - XPS 8950, i7 12700, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 1660ti, BIOS 1.9.0. I replied to this same issue in another thread. I uninstalled SupportAssist approximately one week ago and no further FirmwareTPM.exe errors reported in Reliability Monitor. I still have Dell Update installed by the way.

Thanks for the feedback.
Dell update is indeed enough to keep the system op to date. I will report in a week if the problem is gone.

It happened again with only Dell Update installed. I upgraded Dell Update from 4.7.0 to 4.7.1. Now wait and see if the error is gone , or not.
On a different subject, Dell Update is offering me the following update :
NVIDIA GeForce GT 10xx/GTX 1xxx/RTXxxxx Graphics Driver
When I click on full update details from website, and select my specific XPS 8930 serial number then the message driver is not compatible appears. Not surprising because this update mentions only GTX 1050/1060 video cards and my system is equipped with GTX 1070.
Dell Update needs a lot of QC TLC....

These are the uninstall instructions from Dell-Chris M.
Uninstall SA
* Right click the Start menu button and select Control Panel
* Under Programs, select Uninstall a program
* In the list of programs, locate and select Dell SupportAssist
* At the top of the window, select Uninstall
* When done, look for Dell SupportAssist Agent, Dell SupportAssist Update Plugin, and Dell SupportAssist Remediation. If any are found, select Uninstall
* When done, restart the PC
How to delete the older SA snapshot files after uninstalling SA
* Click the Windows icon
* Type file
* Click File Explorer
* Click View
* Add a check to Hidden items
* Open C:/ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\SystemRepair\SnapShots
* Press Ctrl A to highlight all
* Click Delete on the keyboard
This may help for a complete uninstall of SupportAssist.
I am going to reinstall SupportAssist and see if my machine behaves as it should. If not I will uninstall SupportAssist and leave it at that. Best of luck.

This AM, I installed SupportAssist again and the errors in Reliability Monitor began immediately.
I uninstalled SupportAssist and the associated software. Apparently SupportAssist and my machine are not compatible at this time. I like what SupportAssist is supposed to do, when the software is updated in the future I may try it again.

@B1tbull - Dell is aware of the FirmwareTPM.exe errors. IMO, if your PC is working normally, just ignore these error messages.
As for the NVidia driver issue...Is your GTX 1070 GPU a Dell OEM card or did you install it after you got this PC? If it's a non-Dell GPU, the driver may not be compatible.
That said, when I look at the XPS 8930 Support page without entering my Service Tag, NVidia driver v31.0.15.1766, A00 is listed and it mentions the GTX 1660 Ti GPU that Dell installed in my XPS 8930.
But, after I enter my Service Tag and search again, the site doesn't offer that driver to me at all. I actually did install it and my system is working normally. So there may be some issue(s) with the support site...
Again, if your PC is working normally, ignore Dell Update notification about the NVidia driver...

Well, I had another TPM.exe error today with only Dell Update installed. When Dell Update did an update scan, it triggered the TPM.exe error, so I uninstalled Dell Update also. As my warranty is expiring in two weeks, I will just check the Dell Support page for my specific system driver updates. Disappointing. Hoping you have had better success than I have had.

HI Ron,
Thanks for the feedback. FIrmware.TPM.exe is still crashing, but otherwise the PC is fine.
The Nvidia update is made available even when specifying the service code and indeed the GTX 1070 card was preinstalled by Dell when I purchased the system. More troubling is the fact that when I look for all drivers available based on the service tag, this non 1070 Nvidia driver is the only one available.
I used to stick with latest Nvidia drivers until I ran into issues, then was advised to install the Dell supplied driver which solved the issues at hand . I am still using that Dell Nvidia 451.67 op to now and did not try to install the Dell Nvidia 517.66 driver which is not specified for the GTX 1070 card.
My thinking has always been "If it ain´t broke, don´t fix it "( except for security/vulnerability updates )
