iPhone pic can not upload from desktop PC to forum and solution

direct upload of iphone pic from desktop PC to forum does not work.

solution: open pic in Paint then save as another jpeg file.  upload the new jpeg works.  another forum bug.

it is just a few more clicks.

edit: if I upload iphone jpg pic within iphone Safari to the Dell forum, it works.  but I can not upload it in desktop pc with the iphone plugged in pc.  it seems to be an interface issue.  even if I copy paste the pic to desktop picture folder, still does not work.  have to use paint to make it work.  could this be another dumb apple vs Windows bug?

Bugs are most notable and get more attention when posted in the Rockstar forum.  One way or another, we will get you over there.  :)

I'm not SURE it is a bug?

I think most iPhone pictures are not saved in JP

G format, but HEIC. Can not load those into a post, it is not supported. I use a different way to get them off of my iPhone, actually 2 ways.

  • Email them to me and use SAVE AS for the photo in JPG format.
  • Using Intel's Unison, I connect the iPhone to my PC. From there I can see all my Photo's and either D/L them via selection which does it in JPG format, or click on the photo and use the SNIPPING tool to copy the part of the photo I was and SAVE to desktop in JPG format.

Either way, I can then load into threads.

it is jpeg natively here.  it shows up in load image small window as if everything is good, then nothing shows in forum after clicking add.  but the forum knows it is not blank for otherwise it would not allow user to post a "blank" response.  my response to original discussion is example.

@redxps630

I've never had a problem uploading JPG extensions. Although JPEG and JPG files are the same content, could be the forum s/w limits extensions to 3 characters? However, you said JPEG are working?

What is the file type from the iPhone that doesn't work?

I upload this picture without issue in one shot within iPhone safari browser where I am also logged in Dell forum.  so it can be a apple vs Windows bug.

Possible I guess, but I always use Windows 11/FireFox...

What browser do you use on the PC, and what Windows version?

I've used my Wife's PC on occasion posting, W10 Pro...

Try Edge, it might work???

Or get Firefox and try. If it doesn't work (mine does) it could be something within Windows, although I am not sure what?

Dell forum Trivia:

they let you show 4 top images in your profile.  If a user uploaded pic is posted twice at least, it got moved to the 4 pic folder.  max 4.  first in first out.

prior to that you can have as many as you want, now only 4.  all the pics you had uploaded in old forum has got bad links now.
