RDP connection on Wyse Optiplex 3000 thin client don't work

Hi.

I have many Wyse devices (3040), and just bought a new model, 3000 thin client. But I'm having a problem to make connection RDP on the devices. My VM works well on 3040 model (I use the same configuration on both device, IP, mask, gatway, domain), but doesn't connect on 3000 model.

Just to inform, I get to connect the new device on the Wyse Management Suite, and can do remote access (Remote Shadow) on the device without problem. In the Settings > Troubleshooting > Ping, I can ping the VM IP.

I really didn't find the problem. The protocol are diferent? I need to make some changes in the VM?

9.6.1080 is release 2502. the current version of ThinOS 9 is 25119.6.4029

Please upgrade to that, and the associated AVD package (ThinOS 2508 (9.6.3071) Microsoft AVD package v3.3.3146)

Keep in mind.

That build of ThinOS9, 2511 is the last build of ThinOS9, you should be moving to ThinOS 10, which is available at no charge for further updates.

Is the Microsoft AVD Package installed on the TC?

What is the error message?

What does the event log show?

It worked! I updated the BIOS and AVD package, and the connection was a success. Thanks for the help.

Great.

Firmware is released quarterly and addresses not only security and functionality for core operating system (ThiNOS) but also for our 3'rd party partners (AVD).  Having a plan to stay current on firmware and WMS is critical to the success of your thin client deployment.

@user_d689d6 would you mind pointing me to where you found the instructions on updating your device(s)? I am having same issue. I can not seem to get my 3000s into RDP. It acts like they are hanging at the Broker and times out.  Thanks!

@Griz_O

Hi, I did get the drive on Dell Support website, using the serial number of the device. For this device, I get BIOS and Microsoft AVD files and put them on a normal USB (you don't need to transform in a boot device). With USB connected in the Thin Client, go to Settings and to Admin Policy Tool. There, change the config to Advanced and go to the Firmware section. You can upload the update there. After, Save & Publishing.

If you are using WMS to control the devices, you can do those steps on there.

@user_d689d6 Thank you for replying.

I will offer that while you certainly have the option to update locally on the thin client, they are designed to be centrally managed.  Wyse Management Suite is the tool for this and is available in a free version and a paid version.

You can download WMS here,

Documentation is available here

@user_d689d6 and @DELL-Scott H Thanks for that! I did download the bios update to a USB as per the instructions, however when I attempted to upload the file it gave me the error: "Failed to upload files: Failed to valid upload file." I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I was going to attempt to update the bios via the bios next.  Once I have the bios updated I can attempt to update the ThinOS.

@Griz_O You download the wrong file. It need to have .pkg extension, and not .exe.

In the website, try to look for Microsoft AVD file (in pkg format) and Firmware update (also in pkg format).

@user_d689d6 the only other option to upgrade the BIOS is an *.RCV file.  Does that AVD pkg update the BIOS also then? Sorry for my ignorance.

@user_d689d6 I am referring to the most recent "critical' BIOS update, the file is either a RCV or an EXE, no option to download a pkg. That being said I am going to attempt to download the previous PKG file to update the ThinOS and I am hopeful that after that I will be able to install the updated critical BIOS file.  Thanks for hanging in there with me!

@Griz_O I believe you didn't look at the opter folder of the website

See one link, with AVD update, for example: Pacote Microsoft AVD v3.3.3146 do ThinOS 2508 (9.6.3071) | Detalhes do driver | Dell Brasil

To upgrade the Thin Client version, search for Firmware.

Let me know if worked.
