Optiplex 3000 / AWS Broker / ThinOS - After AWS client update to V2025.0.4484.188 audio reverts to built in speaker after minutes
Opened a service request too, but figures others may have the issue too. We have 260+ thin clients deployed and all are having this issue after updating the AWS client. Even after reverting the AWS client to previous version the issue persists.
We have tried a soft and factory reset and the audio is still reverting.

Good morning,
I have received confirmation that this fix will be part of ThinOS 10 2511 HF1, scheduled to be released on 1/20.
As ThinOS 9 has reached end of development if it is needed for ThinOS 9 you will need to open a support case and request a private build to be considered.

I see the AWS package build, but what is your ThinOS build?

I dont see anything internally, so I would suggest making sure you are on the ThinOS build released with that package. I find it surprising that you are unable to reverse the behavior by removing the AWS package and rolling back to the earlier one.
If you dont have a device that you cannot reproduce it on, possibly USB firmware re image a device to the same ThinOS build and put the version of the AWS package that does NOT show the behavior and confirm it still does not reproduce, and provide logs of both for engineering to review.

@DELL-Scott H Thank for the suggestion, will try a USB drive wipe and fresh setup.
May I request the screen shot attachment in OP be removed.

Oh boy, looks like Amazon has blocked access to v2024.x clients as of this morning and we had to force push v2025.x now to all clients again and the issue continues to occur. :(
Working with SR Engineer and collecting logs and dumps from a freshly USB wiped unit as well.

It definitely sounds like the audio issue is tied to the recent AWS Client update, especially since it’s affecting every OptiPlex 3000 in the same way. The fact that rolling back the client and even doing a factory reset didn’t solve it suggests there may be a compatibility problem between the update and ThinOS. Checking the ThinOS version before and after the update might help identify what changed. It also seems likely that the system is switching the default audio device in the background, so monitoring that behavior could offer more clues. Hopefully the service request brings a quick fix.

@gracemiller84 wow do you have more info or a ticket where they are tracking this? We had a meeting with engineering this morning and it seemed like this was the first they had heard of it

@DELL-Scott H Thanks for the update Scott. Our support engineer had alerted us of this earlier this week and we have been using a test build in the interim. Will mark as resolved after the 20th when the new HF1 build is out :)

Jan 20, 2006 update is out and has been pushed to our test units successfully and we have confirmed corrected operations. Going out to all our users later this week. :)
