No option to boot from flash drive

Hi all, hoping I can get some help booting from a USB as I have no idea why I can't. I reset the BIOS settings to factory default, enabled USB boot support, ensured all USB ports were enabled and that secure boot was disabled, but I still don't have it as a boot option. I ran diagnostics to make sure my eMMC card, USB ports, and system management were all working, and all tests passed. I verified that I could boot from the USB on an old Thinkpad, and while in diagnostics I would get a pop-up saying it detected a USB being plugged in. What am I missing?? When I hit F12 to view boot options it only shows the HDD and NICs, and if I click add boot option in UEFI only the main hard drive file system shows up

Ok, I don't understand WHY it worked, but for some reason flashing the USB using dd on FreeBSD instead of Rufus/balenaEtcher on Windows and plugging the drive into ONE specific port (front-middle for me) worked. I'll have to do more messing around to figure out what on earth I did right that was wrong before now.
