The limit is one.

Dell does not issue new keys never has never will.

Fake pirated COA stickers are common.

Win8 and Win10 keys cannot be read from bios and then used on another machine.

The OEM Activation system enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to develop an internal inventory management system to manage the ordering and receiving of Windows product keys and the creation and reporting process for the Computer Build Report through Microsoft-hosted web services or Microsoft Digital Operations Services (MDOS).

DELL does not hand out new keys.  You will have to buy a new copy of windows from microsoft or a vendor like newegg.

I do not recommend ebay because pirates sell fake keys and media..

Did Windows 10 originally come on your Dell PC?

@nyc10036

This machine has VISTA COA

If it came with 8 or 10 originally it would not have asked for a key and would NOT have a COA it would have installed without issue.

Being Vista means its from 2007

WIN7 is 2009

WIN8 is 2012

WIN10 is 2015

No where in the post did he mentioned that the PC came with Vista.

He didn't even mention which model of Dell PC it is.

You must be clairvoyant.

No I follow up and go thru all of the posts in the thread.

I tend to do this every day.

You did not see the post about the COA being Vista.

Some of the posts were removed due to obfuscated XSS phishing links.

Microsoft giveth and Microsoft taketh away.

Windows 20H2 does not accept WIN7 keys anymore.

Windows key exceeded activation limit means enterprise MAK key has been sold to many users simultaneously or they had a key and made fake copies of the key and disks and sold them all at once.

The first user who goes online and activates wins.

Earlier Versions 1803 1809 1903 1909 and I think 2004 still take the "I dont have a key option" then activate online using the SLUI 3 command with WIN7 key.

The activation server reported that the product key has exceeded its unlock limit. (Error code: 0xC004C008)

What it means and how to fix it

You might see this error if the product key has already been used on another PC, or it's being used on more PCs than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. To fix the problem, you'll need to buy a product key for each one of your PCs to activate Windows on them.

How wonderful that others are expected to see something that isn't there.

Was there but moderators removed it.

Unless you keep track that will happen often.
