External HD locked by Bitlocker. Bitlocker was never setup and has no recovery key.
I went to access my external Seagate 2TB and file explorer is no longer showing the drive name. Only shows the locked drive location. When attempting to open I am met with a Bitlocker password field. I never installed bitlocker and there is no recovery keys in my MS account. I attempted to follow the instructions to turn off bit locker through the f2 setup menu but I do not have options to restore factory settings under "expert key management". I am trying to access important tax documents that only exist on the drive. please help, none of the other forums can assist in this and the older issues seem to be out of date for my system.

nevermind, somehow my partner locked it with their bitlocke when they plugged the HD into their laptop. I spent six hours pouring through forums and trying everything. They walk in and say "you want me to try mine? I have a bitlocker." I wanted to die.

I have a similar problem to the above. I have been asked to enter a bitlocker recovery key but am unable to retrieve the key through my Microsoft account. Apparently it’s ‘stored in the Microsoft account that was used to setup Windows.’ Is it possible to retrieve this?
