Support Assist OS Recovery Tool not installing. I found out why I was having this issue Support Assist OS Recovery Tool not installing I was not logged in with a Microsoft account. I solved this by signing in with Microsoft account then Support Assist OS Recovery Tool installed with no problems.

In case this happens to anyone else:
The quick fix is to go to start, then launch the "Dell Update" application. Click the "check" button and then install the update. Afterward, go back to SupportAssist and the re-run all the checks to update your system. Hope that helps!

Same here. I have not tested it but I think many dell updates fail to install on password-protected BIOS. Sometime due to `quiet install` param given in automated installation script, the password prompt is not visible at all and update will pause for ever.
You can solve this issue by locating the downloaded update and manually run it.

Yep, I too have this problem on a new Dell Inspiron 5775 running Win 10
So, where does the update file get saved to?

Hi,
Today, 8/18/2019 I had the same problem you have been having. Dell Update let me know there was an update. I clicked "Install" button to install SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools Update 8/12/2019. It went as far as to even shown that it was creating a "Restore Point" then it said Installation 0/1 Complete. I tried three times applying the same process. I even "shut down" my computer and turned it on again and tried to install this Dell Critical Update. Still did not work. Just now I gave it one last try. I clicked on Dell Update to search for update. It gave me the same update "Critical" 180MB SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools update 8/12/2019. This time I clicked the "Automatically restart computer (when required) box. Then it worked.
Perhaps this might work for you and all the other people who said they were having the same problem!

Same problem here, I kept trying install the update and it kept failing. I followed david.davidov's remedy listed below and updated the BIOS, restarted, came back to DELL UPDATE and installed the SUPPORTASSIST OS RECOVERY TOOLS update.
Thanks david.davidov

Yes, with exact problems you describe, that worked for me but it never restarted. Dell Update doesn't show any update for today being done. I really don't care but now I have SupportAssist version 4.4.0.9836 if that matters. Guess I can look up SupportAssist and find out what it is supposed to do. I'm just checking Update to see if it ever is going to update Intel Rapid Storage so Windows will be happy and force me to update 1903.

This worked for me:
In Control Panel, Programs and Features, uninstall Dell Update, then restart.
On the Dell support site, download Dell Update Application and SupportAssist Update Plugin.
Reinstall Dell Update Application and restart.
Install Support Assist Update Plugin and restart.
Run Dell Update and install Support Assist OS Recovery Tools, with restart checked. It still says 0/1 updates installed, but never mind that. Restart.
Run Dell Update again, and it reports system up to date.

Sorry for my late reply.
You can go directly to Dell Driver & Downloads section to download the update for your PC manually.
