Area-51m R1, Windows 11 upgrade

Hi All,

I am waiting to receive option to upgrade to Windows 11 since microsoft announced the official go live. I am checking daily for some notification, but nothing so far. Just wanted to check if anyone knows about any delays from Microsoft. I am expecting them to release it in parts across the globe but they have not specified any country specific timelines anywhere.

Thanks

Microsoft has decided to stagger the updates very similar to Windows 10. It seems that the very newest systems will get the update notification first and some users with older systems could actually be waiting until Early 2022. If you are eager to install Windows 11 you can go to this page and download it. The first option on that page is basically the update version and named the Installation Assistant.. The second option is the media creation tool which is similar to the Windows 10 media creation tool. Windows has a notification on the page that they recommend waiting but I am guessing that is more to relieve the stress on their servers. Though those users that wait will get updated versions of Windows 11 that have had more bug fixes. Personally I am one of the impatient users and downloaded from that page in order to install Windows 11 quickly without waiting for the update notification.

The timeline that's been announced stretches for months -- it is available for manual download and install.  Or you can wait for a Windows update notification.  The official statement is that Microsoft will offer it that way to every eligible system by mid-2022, so it could well be next Summer before you see it offered to your specific system.

Thanks for the responses. I will wait till the weekend mostly. Dont want to wait indefinitely if there is already an option to download and install.
