VDI Sysprep / Windows Activation

Hello

I have a VDI template in VMware and use this to deploy Virtual Desktops using  vWorkspace.  One of the issues I have is that sysprep seems to be removing the Windows acticvation so after a while users reporting that windows beeds activating.  As I quick fix I have converted to template to a VM, activated windows, and redeployed the Virtual Desktops.  One solution was to use a KMS and manage it this way but I would be very interested to know if anyone else has this issue and if so what actions you took,

Many thanks, John

Hi John,

I always tell customers that they need to use a KMS server when using instant prep.  I am not sure there is another way.

Thanks for your response, I think we are going to use a KMS.

One other solution was to choose the “re-provision computer after logoff” –

that stops the grace period expiring but even though we have licences it’s

a fudge rather than a fix

Cheers, John
