What does 'perpetual license' for Office mean?
I see this in the description page of vostro 3501 (dell's website).
I see an annual sub and this 'perpetual license tied to your pc'. See the highlighted option? I don't know what this means. Can somebody please tell me what this is? Does this mean lifetime use of Office Student with all features? Or will it be like using Office for free on the browser?

@Hahahe A perpetual license is the traditional software purchase model were you pay once upfront and then you have a license to use that version forever. So when Microsoft releases the next major version of Office, you won't automatically be able to use it. However, I'm not sure how Student licenses work for people who are students when they buy them and then stop being a student later. The application itself should keep working, but I don't know if it's technically allowed to continue using it. But the reason perpetual licenses are offered is because Office is now also available for under a subscription license model, where there's no upfront cost and you instead pay a recurring fee, and you can only keep using Office as long as you continue paying that fee. But you do automatically get upgrades to newer versions of Office as Microsoft releases them while your subscription is active.
