Vostro 5510 nvme 4.0 ssd upgrade Samsung 980 pro

Question

HI, There are two m.2 nvme slots in Vostro 5510. Does Vostro 5510 has  nvme 4.0 slot available? I'm interested in upgrading to Samsung 980 PRO drive. thank you Branislav

The manual states support for PCIe 4, but isn't clear on whether two of them will work together (I suspect they share a PCIe channel) -- or whether one is 4 and the other is 3.

If you're installing a PCIe 4 drive, replace the original with that and move the existing one to the other NVMe connector.

Hi,

thank you very much for prompt answer.

I have bought 1tb Samsung 980 pro ssd, and installed it in 2280 slot, and existing one have moved to 2230 slot.

Unfortunately it works only at half of gen 4.0 speed, like it only works at gen 3.0 standard. Read and write speed are 3200 MB/s.

Is there something I can do about it, or it ssd gen4.0 simply is not supported ?

Model is Vostro 5510, i5 11300H +MX450.
