Vostro 15 5510 RAM compatibility for upgrade
Hi,
after runnning CPU-Z I found that this model comes with 04TPRN A00 mother board, which should be usefull to find info about which RAM specs will work, but as it seems, is not.
After running Kingston and Crucial memory checks I found that the compatible specs for the Vostro 15 5510 system are:
DDR4 3200MHz Non-ECC Unbuffered SODIMM CL22 1RX8 1.2V 260-pin
The catch is that high performance RAMS are mostly 1.35V voltage. Does anyone know if that would be an issue?
Also, you can buy RAM memory that comes in a single stick (for instance 32GB) or kits with 2 memory sticks that come together (for instance 32GB - 2x16GB). Does anyone know if using to single sticks of same specs works the same as using 2 sticks that come in a kit?
So let´s talk specifics. Does anyone know if these specs are compatible with the mentioned vostro system?
- Kingston Fury (KF432S20IB1K2/32) - Memory kit 32GB (2 x 16GB) SODIMM DDR4 3200Mhz FURY Impact 1,35V 2Rx8 260 pins
- Corsair Vengeance Performance (CMSX16GX4M2A3000C18) - Memory kit 16GB (2x8GB) SODIMM DDR4 3000Mhz CL18 1,2V
- Crucial Ballistix (BL2K16G32C16S4B) - Memory kit 32GB(16GBx2) SODIMM 3200 MHz CL16 DDR4 DRAM 1,35V
- Crucial Single Stick (CT16G4SFRA266), 16GB, DDR4-2666, sodimm 1.2V CL19
All the best,
Pedro_S.

High performance RAM is generally not recommended for budget systems.
You need 1.2V memory and can install either in pairs or single modules, but mismatched modules will not run in full dual channel mode.
If you want Kingston RAM, here's what they recommend:

I would recommend the High Performance Kingston Fury Impact kit KF432S20IB/32, it is dual rank and has 2Rx8 chips. 2 x 16 GB, it would auto-overclock but it runs with 1.2V stable, no fiddling around in the BIOS.
No mixing of RAM, what is installed needs to be removed. For best performance always buy a kit. I upgraded my Dell Vostro 5415 with this kit and the multi core benchmark is much higher with Geekbench 5 than with the single 8GB 1Rx16 that came with my Dell.

Ended up getting a single channel Crucial stick for 16GB.
Crucial Ram Ddr4 3200 Mhz Cl22 Laptop memory Ct16G4Sfra32A 16 Gb.
Not high performance, but cost was lower. I´ll check-in to inform on results when I install it.

Just checking in to close the matter. Ended up getting a 2nd Crucial Ram Ddr4 3200 Mhz Cl22 Laptop memory Ct16G4Sfra32A 16 Gb stick. Installed them and now have 32GB ram working at 3200Mhz in dual channel. Performance boost is felt mainly when using a bunch of apps screens at once, which now a days is the norm. Also, before, when I had 8GB RAM, the base use of memory was around 60% right after start-up, now it´s around 21%.
So thanks for all the help. All best.
