Need Advice - M.2 Slot vostro 5471

Hello there,

kindly please advice. I can't found no where for exact information about M.2 slot on vostro 5471.

it seems M type, rather than B type or B&M type. but I want to make sure.

please someone (hopefully from Dell's Person):

1. is it support SATA and Pcie?

2. if support PCie, what is the version? PCie 2x or 4x?

3. what is type of M.2, is it socket 1, socket 2, socket 3?

4. will it support NVMe ? or only SATA?

Thanks in advance

What speed You have with Your configuration?

I bought the same model Vostro 5471 and installed Samsung 970 Plus 500GB

Read/Write speeds are much to slow for this model. Should be around 3500MBps/3200 but I have about 1800/1800 just like this M.2 work only M.2 and PCIE NVME only 2 lines PCIE

Is it some wrong with my drive or is this M.2 slot not supporting 4 lines PCIE?

NVME drivers are installed and I try multiple systems and drivers. Results are the same.

It is an older system (2017) that likely supports only GT2 mode (common at the time of design), so even if it's PCIe X4, you see about half what that can sustain. Nothing is wrong other than that you're installing a drive faster than what this older model system can support.

You have a drive that will operate faster in any future system you might purchase, but there's nothing you can do about the system you now have.
