external monitor refresh rate with hdmi 1.4. Vostro 15 3500
Hello. I have a Dell Vostro 15 3500 laptop with an HDMI v1.4 port. Can I connect an external monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate and expect to achieve at least 100 Hz? The monitor is a Samsung Odyssey G3

Yes. The system is limited to 60 Hz over HDMI, regardless of the resolution.

Not over HDMI -- max resolution is FHD (1920X1080) at 60 Hz.

@ejn63 If I set the resolution lower than FHD, will a 100 Hz rate still be unreachable?
