Vostro 270 CPU Change - BIOS Update
Hello,
I've recently been given a Vostro 270 and have doing some homework on upgrading the CPU, currently an i3-3320. Dell only shipped the 270 with i3's and i5's using the A09 BIOS, and the below thread covered that it didn't support an i7 at the time.

I've found a few newer topics on other sites, though, claiming they are running i7's on this motherboard with 12G, but didn't say how they accomplished it.
What I've found is that the 84J0R Motherboard that Dell used in the Vostro 270 has a newer BIOS available released at the end of November, 2013. Found here;

The newer A11 BIOS supports i7's on other platforms with up to 32G. The 84J0R Motherboard uses an Intel B75 Chipset that also supports i7's. The Foxconn website also rates the 84J0R style Motherboards as good for i7's and up to 32G of RAM.
Looking at Intel's compatibility information for the B75 Chipset, the i7-3770 variants all fall under the max TDP for the 84J0R board as well at 77W (identical TDP to the i3-3220 currently running).
As of last night I installed the A11 BIOS on my system and it's running perfectly.
I'm looking for someone to help me confirm the research I've done before I sink nearly $200 into buying an i7-3770. Is there anything I've missed?
Thanks for any feedback, pretty new at this but I'm trying to cover every base as I read up on it.

Solved!
The 3rd gen i7 will work if the steps I've written out above are taken.
This board has some gaming life in it yet!

Did you end up doing this upgrade and was it successful?
Thanks,
