Vostro 230 wireless Internet issues
Dell vostro 230, windows 7 pro - will not let me enable the wireless function. I have looked through here and seen a few things talking about drivers and stuff, but I have zero idea what any of it means. I don’t know any type of computer language lol. PLEASE help! In control panel>network and internet > network connections, the “local area connection” (I’m assuming this is for wifi?) says network cable unplugged underneath it and under that says “Broadcom net link gigabit Ethernet”. From what I have read, I’m thinking I need to download something from Broadcom for it to work? But what exactly do I download and what do I do afterwards? ANY help is so appreciated!! TIA!!

V230 and 230S do not ship with wireless adapter hardware. Easiest way for you to add wireless is to buy a usb WiFi dongle. The dongle should come w installation dvd that contains driver for Win 7 etc. one example of old style dongle is Linksys AE3000.
PS Re: “local area connection” says network cable unplugged underneath it and under that says “Broadcom net link gigabit Ethernet”
this is for wired internet connection using ethernet cable to plug into rear of your pc. It is not WiFi.

Ok thank you so much! I picked up a USB adapter today hoping that it may work and am going to try installing it tomorrow. I wasn’t sure that it would work, but after reading your response, I am much more confident now! Thank you so much for the advice!
