Vostro 220 Integrated Graphics not working, is it a bad sign?
The integrated graphics in my Vostro 220 isn't working. It works with dedicated. Is this an indicator that my motherboard is bad?

when you install dedicate or discrete video graphic card the pc bios automatically disables integrated gpu. that is normal. if your pc without discrete gpu installed still has no video from integrated gpu, then it can be an issue.

When I remove the totally-compatible graphics card, I get no video signal from the integrated card.

Many Models do not allow onboard video to work if a card is in the slot.

try clear cmos settings by jumper reset on motherboard and replace cmos battery with a brand new one.
