VNXe3200 "....host does not have any initiators logged into...."
Good Morning
I'm looking for any assistance with getting my VNX3200 and ESXi 6.0 (UCS Blade server) setup correctly. I'm using FC connection between the two and it appears they are seeing each other correctly as I can add the ESXi host to the SAN however I keep getting the following error; "host does not have any initiators logged into the storage system"
I have the ESXi 6.0 installed on SD cards on the blade so currently I'm not showing any persistent datastores within ESXi. I have tried rescan on multiple time and nothing shows.
On the SAN both the host and the HBA's address are picked up so they are seeing each other.
I have been doing some research and keep coming back to VSI plugin. Do I need this to be installed so that the 2 can talk properly? That would be difficult as it would require me to deploy the ova however I have no persistent storage on the blade server.
I'm totally stumped. If there is any assistance that anyone can provide that would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance!

Hi zenneosen
I just resolved this at the end of day yesterday. Turns out that I had not entered the WWPN address for the SP's into the SAN Cloud Storage Connection Policy on my UCS service profile. Once I had added the address in for SP A and SP B I was good to go.
Thanks
Carmen

Hi Carmen,
There are reasons you could receive the message that host does not have any initiators logged into the system.
After having the host added to the VNXe, if there is no LUN provisioned to the specific host you could receive the message.
The other one from the host there should be two paths to the VNXe one via SP A and the other via SP B. If what you have is FC with the San switch the zoning should be done correctly. And multipathing software should be configured for it.
The first one if you do not have any LUN provisioned to the host can be ignored, however the second should be corrected
