VNXe3200 and Cisco UCS Boot from SAN
I am looking for documentation for setting up Boot from SAN for a VNXe3200. The existing structure is using an XtremIO and we would like to move away from that.
I found this link which, very nicely, explains how to using iSCSI, but I will be using vHBAs.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You can use iSCSI and FC on the same array, you just cannot use both to connect to the same host. You can have some hosts connected using FC and some using iSCSI.

Well the first question is if your using local zoning or not.
Basically just add a boot policy to boot from san when it asks for your vHBA name make sure it matches the name of the vHBA you created. Set the boot order, WWN, and lun and you should be good.
(Not sure if the steps below work for the VNXe series)
In the EMC create a LUN bind it to a storage group and map it to a host lun. Boot lun is usually 0.

no go on the VNXe. It's a very simple GUI with no special configs. I'm going to setup iSCSI because the other option is to Boot from my XtremIO (too expensive). Thank you for the quick response though

**Keep in mind that I'm still relatively a Rookie when it comes to this**
I thought that we could use both iSCSI and FC with the VNXe at the same time.
--Not what we want to do because everything else we have is Fibre. I'm looking into installing ESXi on the FlexFlash SD Card.

Gotcha. This doesn't look like it will be ideal for me. I also found documentation that supports what you say. Only 1 type per host. Thank you
