VNX HOST IOPS EXCEED

Hi guys,

We have VNX5100 system connected to database system. Storage configuration, total disk 60. Disk type - 600GB 15K SAS only.

My question, is there any impact if the host IOPS recorded via Performance Data Logging (.nar) exceeded IOPS  from my calculation. For an example, from .nar , host IOPS max recorded is 12,000 but from my calculation, total host IOPS for my storage is 8,000.

My calculation for storage IOPS is obtained from VNX Capacity Calculator.

From .nar files, my response time average 15ms below. Latency average is below 10ms.

But my concern is queue length across both SPs which average is over 10, max at 32. Does it effect my system since user complained about lagging and timeout?

sure - if you go above the performance capabilities of a config the the response time increases

the IOPS info from Capactiy Calculator is just a very rough calculation - it doesnt take into account a lot of the details that are important
