VNX DARE implementation

I have 2 VNX2 arrays that are currently replicating their block via Recoverpoint and file via VNX Replicator.

If i install the DARE enabler on both VNX arrays, can I simply enable encryption without any impact to current replication states?

Thanks.

Thanks. I've worked with Isilon SmartLock and wasn't sure if the encryption state on VNX DARE maintained on data during replication. You confirmed my thoughts.

to be clear - with VNX DARE the data is encrypted *only* on disk

what is transferred via replication is the unencrypted data blocks just like with host access.

IF the target VNX also has DARE enabled it will automatically encrypt the data that is replicated

just like any other host write - this has nothing to do whether or not the source VNX has DARE enabled.

Take a look at the VNX DARE white paper

not sure what that has to do with Isilon Smartlock though - which is data rentention and at a completely different level (file sytestem WORM vs. block encryption layers below the fs)
