directing call home to in house modem
Hello,
We are going third party support for some of our VNX arrays. While our procurement team is in the process of contract review, we need to setup call home via a local modem for about a month or two.
It's been awhile since I have done this, any ideas would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

can you send an email to your phone number, will it come in as an SMS message ? Either way you are not getting away from using email based form of notification. So your boss want to you monitor this array until it gets under support with 3rd party company ? In my experience those companies don't provide any software support, hardware only.

wow, that brings back memories of using ConnectEMC with a serial-port attached modem. Why do you need a modem ? If you can setup email-home templates to email you/3rd party provider ?

Thank you so much Dynamox! Gonna try that and see if I get the text. We are moving stuff off of these arrays and so it doesn't make sense for us to go full maintenance, only hardware.
Leaving my 5400 on regular support so that should be good.
Gonna try the text test now.

Thank you so much Dynamox!
Maybe if I can get a text. Until we sign the contract with the third party vendor, the boss wants a phone call of some sort.

Thank you!! That worked!! That should suffice for now, getting texts and sending emails as well.

whip up a little script to look at the output of this command, gives you another way to check on hardware.
