Unisphere for VMAX vAPP and ESA-2016-036
Hello,
According to this ESA there is a vulnerability and the way to address it is to update to Unisphere for VMAX vAPP to version 8.2.0. When i look at the release notes for 8.2.0, i don't see anything that says that is supports "legacy" VMAX (20k for example).
So the question is how do i go about addressing this vulnerability if i cannot upgrade to 8.2.0 as i will no longer able to manage my 20k ?
Thank you

Hi dynamox, from a quick read the release notes on UNI360 and an SE 8.2 technical differences overview, SE 8.2 supports the 20K (depending on the code being run) still and the UNI install guide calls these out for SE requirements:
- VMAX Family systems running HYPERMAX OS 5977 or higher
- Symmetrix VMAX 10K/20K/40K Series systems running Enginuity 5876
- Symmetrix DMX systems running Enginuity 5773
From this I would infer it is supported at a vapp since it is all embedded if you are at these code levels, but I agree there isn't anything explicit in the release notes. Are you at 5876 on the 20K or one of the older families?
Hope that helps some...

Here's a question; I wonder if we are going to see an ISO for an in-place upgrade for the vApp to address this?

it was released yesterday, i upgraded my 8.1.2 appliances and it's managing VMAX2 just fine.
