VM Folder in table

I'm sure its in there somewhere but can someone tell me what the selection is to add what folder a VM resides in?  Folder as in the folder in vCenter under VMs and Templates.

Thanks!

I understand now. I connected to one of our VCs and found the folders.

The short answer is no, we do not collect that data right now. If is not much to ask, could you please open a support case and request we collect this information.

Workaround:So far we do collect Resource Pools, so if you arrange VMs under those containers, you should be able to see them in FVE.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. You did not provide much background in the question.

I am assuming you are creating a custom dashboard and adding a table, know how to drag and drop from the Data tab and are just looking at the long list of metrics/properties available for Virtual Machines.

The property that includes the VM Folder is called vmPathName and includes the datastore, folder and vmx file.

e.g.: [VFOG-POOL1] AH-W12R2/AH-W12R2.vmx

I hope this helps,

Gaston.

Hi Gaston,

I mean the VM Folder that is found in the VMware GUI under "VMs and Templates".  So I create a VM, and then move it into a folder called something like "Business Unit 1".  I create another VM and move it into a folder called something like "Business Unit 2".

What I'd like to accomplish is to be able to create a dashboard table based on VMs and have what folders they are in as a field in that table.

Hopefully that made more sense than my original email.
