How to discovery storage via ViPR SRM

Hi experts,

I am the new for ViPR SRM, I found SRM 3.0 vAPP to install on my vSphere environment. I login into the web portal but I can't discover storage VNX5300 block in SRM.

What I did is :

1) I installed the SolutionPack for VNX in SRM.

2) My block  VNX5300 has direct connected to ESXi Server via FC, I have VM windows server 2007 SP2 and VM SRM host(Which Web service running) are running on the same ESXi Server and both can ping to SPA of VNX.

3) And I followed the document ViPR SRM 3.6 - Discovering SAN Switch Devices to configured my storage in SRM.

And I also go to VNX Uniphere "Setting -> Network->Setting for Block->Edit Network Setting - SPA" and "System->Event Notification for Block Storage Systems" to set use the SNMP configuration. But it still not working.

I am wonderding is there anything step I missed at configuration? And Anyone can support a document about the Disvovering Storage Device? Thanks.

Hi JohnnyHH,

You said you got the vApp for SRM 3.0, but I'm assuming you meant 3.6.  If not, go back and get the 3.62 vApp before you continue.

  • Log in to your SRM console & select the Administration link in the upper right corner - that will open the administration interface.

  • Click the triangle next to Centralized Management in the navigation tree in the left hand panel to expand your choices and then select SolutionPacks, which opens a new tab.
  • Navigate to EMC VNX under Storage and you'll see something like this:

  • Click the pencil in the row for Data Collection.  This brings up the configuration window for the VNX data collector.

From here, follow the instructions in this document: >http://www.emc.com/techpubs/vipr/solutionpack_for_emc_vnx-3.htm.  It will step you through everything you need to know about the VNX Collector and the reports that are available in the VNX SolutionPack.
