How to develop the SolutionPack for some special array?

I am wondering who are in charge of developing the SolutionPack for XXX of  ViPR SRM? Only EMC ViPR team?

Because my customer ask did the ViPR support some small brand 3rd party arrays.

We have a Custom Reporting team that can develop custom collectors and reports (together, a SolutionPack) for an unsupported array.  The feasibility of doing this is heavily dependent on the type of information you're looking for, and the availability of that information thru an appropriate interface (API, CLI, SMI, etc.).  The cost for a custom implementation such as this is also dependent on how much information you're looking for.  Note that in pretty much all cases, you will not be able to create end-to-end topology diagrams for the new array.

For details, you should reach out to the Custom Reporting team in Cork at Custom_Solutions@emc.com

Well, generally support for new arrays is delivered in our regular releases.  The Product Mgmt team drives requirements into Engineering, which does the actual implementation.  It is also possible to provide reporting on an unsupported platform as part of a PS engagement; support in this case would be via PS.

Thanks Dan,

Could you explain the "It is also possible to provide reporting on an unsupported platform as part of a PS engagement; support in this case would be via PS." in detail, I didn't get it well, because my customer is interested in this, so I want to know more. Thanks again.

Thanks Dan, it is very useful information.  I found in Internet some 3rd party certification companys which can certify the ViPR SRM, if they also can develop the SP for specified array, the EMC ViPR SRM will recognize that in official support matrix document?  Thanks.

Another question, so follow your respect direction of words, the general standard process should be:

1) My customer send the request to Customer Reporting team via Email with some valid proven of SRM customer.

2) The Customer Reporting team validate it , if is possible, they will develop the SolutionPack for XXX.

3) After development and test  are done, ViPR SRM will add the SolutionPack for XXX into the regular release? (Is this item right?)

Thanks for your time.

No, #3 is not correct.  Custom SolutionPacks are not guaranteed to become part of the regular release.

Thanks Roberts, that means just probably add the specific SP to regular release depend on Product management team.
