Venue Pro 7140 - NFC disabled
I have gotten a replacement motherboard and NFC is not working. By checking with the cctk utility, I see that the NFC option is disabled in the BIOS, but there is no actual switch in the BIOS options on startup. Is there any reason why NFC is disabled by default and is it safe to activate it via the cctk utility? In the case of a fatal non-boot error I would have no option to deactivate this option again.

Which configurations did you guys order? The configurations with the M-5Y10C processors do not include NFC. All of the other configurations do include NFC. If you aren't sure, you can PM me with your service tag and I can check on my end.

Thanks - I'll send this all over to our marketing guys and ask them to clarify so that this isn't confusing or misleading.

I'm having the same problem here. I first noticed there was no proximity sensor in device manager, then I noticed the nxp driver wasn't listed in uninstall programs. I attempted to install the driver myself but it failed every time. It said the intel MEI wasn't responding. I tried creating an exe with Dell Command | Configure (apparently the new name of cctk?) that would enable nfc, since I too have no option to change it within the bios itself. Anyways I ran the exe I made and it had no effect. I'm running bios A03. I guess we have to wait for another bios update to be able to config nfc? Seems like a pretty stupid oversight to make in the first place.

Same here, the configuration is with a M-5Y10 and the description on the website (in German, but you will know the relevant keywords) reads:
"USB 3.0-Ports in Standardgröße, microHDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Dualband-Wi-Fi: 2x2, 802.11ac, Intel WiDi, Miracast, LTE/HSPA+, Sensormodul (Gyrosensor, G-Sensor, Entfernungssensor), microSD™-Kartensteckplatz"
This quite a bit misleading.

Hmmm. Mine has the M-5Y10 (don't know about the "C"). I was led to believe the config I bought had NFC because it mentions it on its own specific product page under "Access. Share. Connect.". Also, the page for the config with the M-5Y71 says it has NFC in the exact same place and nowhere else. Which led me to believe they were all on equal footing regarding NFC capability.
It's no deal breaker for me if it doesn't have NFC, but you should at least update your product pages so no one else is mislead.

I'm not seeing where it says NFC on dell.com. Can you guys please send me the links where you are seeing this so that I can work with marketing to get this incorrect information removed? I'll ask them to more clearly show which configurations have NFC and which don't.
Apologies for the confusion.

The german site is this one, which contains the information directly in the specs: http://www.dell.com/de/p/dell-venue-11-pro-7000-7140/pd
And in the american one, its only in the text description after the specs: www.dell.com/.../pd
