Cannot Boot Venue 8 Pro

I upgraded Avast Anti Virus on my Venue 8 and there was a problem so I needed to do a clean uninstall and reinstall. Avast has a clean utility for this purpose. It needs to run in safe mode. When its run it asks if you want to boot to safe mode and I answered yes. Once in safe mode I can't select anything from the clean utility because it appears the touch screen doesn't work in safe mode. If you try to reboot it goes right back to the clean utility.

Any suggestions how I can select the options in the clean utility while in safe mode or an option to get out of this loop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Lenny,

As Jeff Leites mentioned rightly, Venue 8 Pro tablet comes with only one micro-USB 2.0 port, which is a charge and connect device combo port.  A micro-USB OTG (On The Go) cable is needed to connect any USB devices to the tablet, including mouse, keyboard or storage device for data transfer.  Here is a link to an example of this OTG cable: http://dell.to/1lCvTGS

Please use an external mouse to select the options during safe mode. I hope this helps.  Let me know if you need further info.

Can you attach a wired mouse and proceed that way?

The "converter" you are referring to is an OTG cable.  They are inexpensive and well worth having on hand.
