Broken micro USB port

Alright, my girlfriend realized the other day that her Dell Venue 8 Pro was not charging, and after further inspection I saw that her micro USB port had a missing piece, To make matter worse, I believe she has peeled off her service tag thinking it was just a pointless sticker >.>. I purchased the tablet for her as a Christmas present just a few months ago. Currently the tablet has a dead battery and cannot be charged, what are my options?

The service tag info is also on the box it came in, if that helps. Good luck!

Oh poor thing! I guess next time you should make it clear that stickers on devices should not be removed because it is there for a reason. :(

I know that there are technicians that can help you deal with your dilemma but of course, that comes with risks and you may have to settle for class "B" replacements.

The Venue 8 Pro was first released last fall, so her tablet is still covered by a one-year hardware warranty. In order to obtain warranty service, she will need to provide a copy of the original sales receipt. If the tablet has already been registered in her name, the tablet's serial number (Service Tag #) is already matched to that purchase; otherwise the Service Tag # will still be linked to to the retailer who sold the tablet. The Service Tag # can also be found on a label attached to the original package and is stored inside the tablet as well, so a technician will be able to locate the Service Tag # when her Venue 8 Pro has been received by the Repair Depot.

In the USA, you can reach Dell Mobile Product tech support at (800) 308-3355 (24/7)

Good luck!

I dont think so dell would be able to pull the device to depot without the service tag, If your are able to turn on the device, Once it comes up as soon as you see the dell logo push volume up key, it will take you to boot menu, once you see that press the volume up and select diagnostics, while runing on top of it you would be able to locate service tag.

All I can say is that if you have charger port problems, Dell is useless. I bought my Venue 8 pro at the Canadian Microsoft store (I am in Canada). Then I ran into problems with the USB port for charging. After over 6 calls to Dell, Dell does not want to honour the warranty since I bought it at the Microsoft store. They actually told me I should have bought it from Dell instead. On Monday (2 June 2014), they said they were going to send a technician to look at it. I even received an automated call from the Technician service saying they would come and would call to fix a time the next day. Of course, they did not call to set a time and did not show. In brief, if you have charger problems, don't expect much help. I certainly won't make the mistake of purchasing a Dell product again.

If you have a device with a warranty and it won't charge, contact Dell support to set up service or a replacement (depending upon your warranty).   This is covered by the warranty unless you have purposely damaged the device.

There is no reason for support not to cover this.

Unfortunately, as you may have deduced, I have already made numerous attempts with Dell support, to no avail.  It would appear that recourse to other remedies may be necessary.

Call--smile--be cheerful--and ask, in the most cheerful and gracious of tones, to speak to a supervisor every time you get an unsatisfactory response. This often has worked for me.

Tried it twice, no dice.

The only thing I can think is, try again, and perhaps at a different contact number . . . .
