are you happy with your 11pro ?
Just a question i haven't seen asked on here yet.
but i am wondering are you happy with your 11pro ?
would you change your purchase if you could to a different tablet ?
would you keep your decision to get the 11 pro ?
would you change your decision in any way ?

Thumper1279,
Good question and I am happy/unhappy if that tells you anything. I received Dell Pro Venue 11 5130 in January, and I had to send it back in May and now I am having problems with it again. The way I feel right now, the Surface Pro looks a lot better and I have not heard any complaints from the new version that came out. The problem with this Dell Tablet, in my opinion, is that they had people putting it together that did not know what they were doing. I do not know if Dell did this or not; they should have had some customers try out the BETA versions of these tablets over a period of 6-12 months, and then, after all the kinks are out, sell them. They were in too much of a hurry to compete with all the other makers and in that regard, did not get it quite right, which they should have, because more people are returning them, sending them back for repairs and or selling them.

After a little bumpy beginning, yes i would. I have the VPro11 7130 and have been using it as my main development machine for the past month with dock outputting on another screen. Typing on it right now. It's been a solid machine and while it took them until last month to get all the problems I had fixed, I haven't had a single issue since. I also have an A02 pen and use it to write notes in meetings.
I even streamed Steam onto it and played games like Diablo 3 and Skyrim without issues. It's too bad there are build issues with this line, but I guess I found a good one and I prefer it over the Surface Pro 2 and 3.

Love my VP11, would definitely purchase again. I bought a refurbished model, i5, 8GB, 256GB. Granted, I purchased it in late June - by then, apparently, Dell worked out all issues. I have had only a couple of issues, and they were easily resolved over the phone. Frankly, I think they were Windows issue and not related to the hardware.
I also have the mobile keyboard, and use the computer almost every day. For the price I paid for the refurbished model, I have absolutely zero regrets.

I have the 5130 and Mobile Keyboard (the one with the battery). It is definitely a love-hate relationship.
On the good side:
- The hardware is surprisingly potent for the power envelope & price. The solid state storage and Bay Trail CPU are snappy. I have no games, but I do have a 32 bit version of Capture One 6 installed for processing RAW Photos and it works just fine. Visual Studio and big Excel Macros are also no problem.
- Battery life is effectively endless with the mobile keyboard.
- I can carry it in a travel bag with only a micro USB cable and no power brick. If I need to charge (seldom on the road) I can plug it into a USB port overnight. I have rarely seen this much functionality in a package this small at any price.
- The keyboard is really good to type on for such a small "laptop".
- The screen is excellent; resolution is "just right", not too much for legacy Windows apps, perfect for movies and a nice sharp screen for Metro apps. Panel viewing angles, contrast and colour are awesome. - Speakers are also surprisingly good.
On the Evil side:
- The battery will run down at 5% per hour in connected standby unless it is plugged into the 23W charger. This is particularly irritating when I have travelled without the 23W charger and am stuck trying to charge it from a 2W USB connection. Solution; shut the tablet down at night. - Shutting the lid of the "laptop" when the keyboard is docked reliably causes the tablet to crash. Solution; shut the tablet down before shutting the lid.
- The WiFi driver crashes when I take the tablet out of "Flight Mode". It can only be recovered with a restart. Solution; shut the tablet down instead of using flight mode.
- The display driver crashes at regular intervals. This usually auto-recovers so; no Shutdown needed! - As for the Mobile Keyboard. The hinge needs to open 10 deg farther. I know that the assembly is borderline (un-) stable at this angle but I am a big boy and willing to take my chances with it falling off a table.
- Also for the Mobile Keyboard, the tablet crashes reliably when the hinge is shaken (for example moving the assembly whilst holding the keyboard) and the tablet is drawing power from the keyboard.
- Again for the Mobile Keyboard; the F# keys are mapped by default to the media functions and not F1 through F12. This cannot be changed and drives me to distraction in Visual Studio and Excel, if you don't believe me try pressing Crtl - Shift - Fn - F8 together.
Most of these issues are known for a while with few solutions in the forum. I only really classify the hinge angle as a "design trade-off", the rest are just bugs and should have been fixed before or shortly after release. A little more polish would have made an OK product into something really special...
If I had to make a recommendation to someone I would say avoid the Mobile Keyboard, but then good keyboard integration is the unique selling point of a Windows machine? I doubt that I can find a similar package at a remotely similar price anywhere else, so I am still very marginally in favour of keeping it...

Zergus, it's possible you may have a defective keyboard or need to change some settings. I am on my second one and it never crashes when I close the lid. Check the forum for a fix and try it. There are some settings that are easily changed that may fix the keyboard you have. If it doesn't work, get a new keyboard. I'm pretty sure Dell has some "bad" keyboards out there and you may have one of them. Call technical support. If they can't help you resolve the issue, they will replace the keyboard.
With the keyboard properly working I find the Venue 11 pro to be a great little machine, albeit a bit on the heavy side.

NO.
<3 days into ownership and I have to hard reboot (aka crash the OS) on an hourly basis as touchscreen and firmware suck.
Amusingly or worryingly for Dell I am on same office floor as. my company's product management team who buy end user tech for 130,000 banking staff. This toy ain't getting on the buy list any time soon.

I purchased my Venue 11 5130 from the Microsoft store in January. No issues so far. I purchased an additional battery, which I switch out monthly. Using the dell slim keyboard and stylus, so far all is good. I also purchased the Microsoft signature warranty, which would replace the tablet if its broken within 2 years and I also have unlimited one on one training sessions on any of the windows tools. Took some sessions on One Note and Power Point.
My decision to purchase at that time was price and the model contained the full version of Windows 8.1.
I use the excel spreadsheets every day, everything is stored on OneDrive. This model is the full HD so Netflix is awesome on this device.
Very happy tablet user at this point.

Extremely bad experience.
Don't know why Dell can start selling the product, i.e. rubbish like this.
Problems never fixed.

I'm very pleased now, but took a while to get here with help of a computer tech and the 800 number. I bought two 11s for my office and my wife's art business last year We now travel with them and will use them months at a time at our vacation home. We also have two windows phones. Takes time to sort things out and this site has been great. If I've learned anything be careful when updating and don't ever let your battery get low. Last but not least, read a new error message three times and then call an expert. And reset forces you to reload all your application software. Next I plan to add a sim card and use Skype more and streaming videos. Damn capable multi-purpose machine but its not idiot proof,

I am very happy. Minimal problems that I sorted out on my own xwith help from this forum. I use it daily at work and home. I have the VPro i5. It replaced.my Latitude 10 tablet which as far as I am concerned was a waste of money for me.

Hi inlineclass
I think you may be right... I did a clean re-install, updated to the latest BIOS and did some testing with a clean system.
The battery only drains really (5%/h) quickly on standby when the keyboard is attached. Otherwise it is slower - about 1%/h - although still nowhere near as should be the case.
The airplane mode problem was fixed by the re-install, but I still get the issue with the graphics driver restarting.
The keyboard attachment issues are still there. I'll RMA both and see if Dell are able to find a solution...

Extremely unhappy, with the product itself and Dell's customer support. I bought my Venue 11 Pro shortly after it was released because I wanted a hybrid Win8 device with great battery life.
Noticed lots of annoying issues immediately, video driver would frequently crash, often failed to resume from standby, touch pad on the power keyboard would randomly stop working. Same issues reported throughout this forum.
And after a two weeks or so I realized the MicroSD slot did not work at all. Would not recognize any cards. Dell exchanged the unit for a newly built piece of hardware.
New unit had all the same problems listed above, but the MicroSD slot worked. I put up with all the other annoying issues hoping Dell would provide software which addressed them, but it never got better with any of the updates.
Then 3 weeks ago I started getting an error message when turning on the Tablet when connected to the AC Power Adapter that stated it detected only a 3W power supply instead of a 23W ... but of course this was the Power Adapter supplied by Dell.
Send it in to the Service Center for repair, and it came back exactly the same but with hard drive reformatted and all my data lost. Talked to Dell again, sent it back to them the 2nd time, and again it came back with the same error message.
Now they are suggesting I accept a refurbished device as a replacement. This seems unfair, given I paid for a new device and that they are not willing to extend the warranty period, even though they are providing a new piece of hardware.
Considering my options now. Wondering if it's worthwhile taking them to Small Claims Court or requesting Arbitration.
Can't imagine ever buying another piece of hardware from Dell. Terrible experience all in all.

Wife's 11 Pro would not charge for second time after correcting itself the first time. Tuesday tech came out and changed, Mother Board, Daughter Board, drive and replaced battery. Ran great for a few hours then died again, Second tech came out today with new battery and declared it a success, but I didn't buy it and wanted diagnostics run to check charging, changed to battery keyboard and it died. Started to change Mother board but replacement refurbished board he had from dell was bent and heat sink was compromised. This time I opted for depot repair. bottom line wife has lost two weeks of availability and we'll have to re-build her data files for the refurbished replacement.
P.S. My 11 is performing very well, Both were early production models and delayed due to parts sourcing problems.,
