One iDRAC 8 Enterprise clock not sync'ing with NTP
Hello,
I have several PowerEdge R430 servers. Each one of them has iDRAC 8 Enterprise. Some of the iDRAC's clocks are wrong. I have set their time zone to the correct one and then set NTP servers several hours ago.
But the iDRAC's clock in one of them is still wrong. In the help, it's written that iDRAC will sync with NTP if the setting is configured. Is there a bug in the iDRAC? Is there any way to force a NTP sync? The host O/S is Vmware ESXi.
Thanks in advance.

upgrading the idrac fw from the idrac gui wont cause a system reboot, and rebooting the idrac also does not reboot the system, only the idrac itself is affected. That said, what I would suggest is to SSH into the idrac, then run racadm ping . if it can ping the NTP server, I would suggest a reboot of the idrac, using the racadm racreset command. The server itself will not reboot.

Did you have latest iDRAC FW installed on the server? If not can you update latest FW and try. You can also reboot iDRAC or disable/enable NTP and check the behavior.

Can we avoid "install FW" and "reboot iDRAC" as solution or suggestion? The server is in production. It cannot be rebooted until some far future according to our planning.
Furthermore, all the iDRAC of all the PE R430 servers are identical, meaning that they all have the same versions of everything, including iDRAC FW. I don't understand why only this one does not update clock using NTP.
I have disabled and re-enabled NTP several times (without rebooting host server) but nothing changed.

When you enable NTP, is the iDRAC date and time is not changing at all or it is changing but not matching with NTP server time based on time zone set in iDRAC?

When NTP is enabled, iDRAC time is not changing at all. (Date is always correct. Only time is wrong.)

As this is failing only on one iDRAC I suspect some configuration issue. Is it possible to reset the configuration to default and reconfigure NTP and check the behavior?

Same issue is showing for me also. iDRAC9 NTP is not syncing. Is there any command, which I can forcefully sync the NTP in SSH session.
So we can say this is not only on one iDRAC as you stated above.
