Can't log into Dell OpenManage

I inherited a Dell T620 from my late Stepfather who passed away. I was recently trying to go through it and use it for a home lab environment. I upgraded it to 2016 standard server, and noticed I am having issues with it. I can't log into Open Manage, it gives me the prompt I log in with the admin credentials.\administrator and the password I used to log into the account. It gives me a 401 error saying resources are forbidden. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to see if that would help but didn't. I want to check the health and state of the raid and other server components but can't get it to work. I also noticed that the dell support application doesn't work either. It installs and then opens up but no matter what i try to run, optimize network, updates drivers, test hardware etc., they all fail and say to contact support.

Not sure what the next steps are to fix this issue

Hi, it's hard to find exact issue but Could you try this, for the 401 error, make sure you are using the correct username and password for the local server administrator account, not the domain administrator account. You can also try using the hostname or IP address of the server instead of localhost in the URL. If you get a browser pop-up box asking for credentials, click cancel and use the embedded webpage login prompt instead. You can find mor einformation from this article Troubleshooting for OpenManage Server Administrator if not opening, updating, or showing correct information https://dell.to/3EKkRRz

Please don't forget to check other browsers and resetting the internet explorer.

@Dell-ErmanO Unfortunately, those didn't work. When I cancel the pop up dialog box it I get a connection issue error page, when I use the local admin .\Administrator it gives me the 401 forbidden error. I've tried reinstalling the app didn't work, I can't find a download link for the most recent application version to install. support.dell.com didn't offer it for me when I typed in my Service Tag.

PNWTechdude,

I would start with verifying the server itself is up to date on BIOS, iDrac, raid controller, etc. On a side note, I am looking at the latest OpenManage versions, but wanted to ask you to clarify the specific OpenManage tool you are using (OMSA, OME, OMI, etc)?

Let me know.

@DELL-Chris H I have verified that the server itself is 2016 standard and is up todate.

Bios Version is 2.9.0
iDRAC version is 2.65.65

I believe it's OMSA that is installed. I will check what version is currently installed.

@DELL-Chris H After all the patching and updating it looks like it fixed the issue. I am able to log in now with the local admin .\administrator.

Thank you for the guidance.
