how to see that switch ports have logged into VMAX, once cabled In SMC ?

I want to check if switch ports logged into the vmax, so that cabling is intact..I want to know how this is done in SMC(Symmetrix management console) ?, In symcli i guess, symaccess list logins might work, how to check this in SMC ?

ssh/telnet to Brocade and run "switchshow" , output will display everything logged-in to the switch including FA WWNs. These WWNs should match to watch you see in SMC under Symmetrix array > Directors > Fibre > FA-XX > Ports > 0    ..then look on the right hand side where it says WWN.

Using "list logins" will work and can tell if there is login from a VMAX/CLI perspective. Probably good to validate using this method first then work your way up to the GUI.. Please download the SMC guide to work in that space for discovery, authorization, roles, etc. You will need to see the VMAX in a "symcfg list" on the SMC host also.

you want to check if array has logged-in into the switch or your management host has logged-in into array ?

notice the tab name is "Fibre HBA", that shows you that you have two initiators logged-in into that FA.

For all the ports connected thru switch  to vmax shows single line entry in Fibre HBAs tab, except for the below attached port, which shows two line/entry\SMC1.jpg

what is the difference for this port ?,

i will occasionally see my Cisco switch login into the FA, i don't why but it happens. The WWN that you have in that picture looks like a qlogic HBA though.

nope until now we just connected cables from switch to VMAX, did not go to zoning yet, here I am trying to see the switch details on the VMAX side. want to make sure everything okay from switch to FAs then.. thinking to go to zoning.
