V (Volume Set Addressing)

When enabled along with the Disk_Array flag for HP-UX hosts, the volume set addressing mode

is selected. VSA mode allows octal addressing.

C (Common Serial Number)

This flag should be enabled for multipath configurations or hosts that need a unique serial number

to determine which paths lead to the same device.

  • Disable      Queue Reset on Unit Attention (D) Disable_Q_Reset_on_UA

When enabled, a Unit Attention (UA) that is propagated from another director does not flush the

queue for this device on this director. Used for hosts that do not expect the queue to be flushed on

a 0629 sense (only on a Hard Reset).

Environ_Set - E :: When enabled, this flag enables the environmental error reporting by the Symmetrix to the host
on the specific port.

Avoid_Reset_Broadcast:   [ARS] :: When enabled, a SCSI bus reset only occurs to the port that received the reset (not broadcast to
all channels).

AS400  [AS4] :: This flag should be enabled for any AS400 (iSeries) hosts connecting to the port.

OpenVMS  [OVMS] :: Enabled for an OpenVMS fibre connection.

SCSI_3  [SC3] :: When enabled, the Inquiry data is altered when returned by any device on the port to report that
the Symmetrix supports SCSI 3 protocol. When this flag is disabled, the SCSI 2 protocol is
supported.

SPC2_Protocol_Version  [SPC2]  :: This flag should be enabled (default) in a Windows 2003 environment running Microsoft HCT test
version 12.1. When setting this flag, the port must be offline.

SCSI_Support1  [OS2007]  :: When enabled, this flag provides a stricter compliance with SCSI standards for managing device
identifiers, multi-port targets, unit attention reports, and the absence of a device at LUN 0.

You always change flags on the FA. You can change them GLOBALLY (for all attached hosts) using binfile or set them depending on the hba that's logging in. But you always target FA ports, not the HBA itself.
