Hi poitrekDell:

Is SupportAssist v3.4.11.29 currently installed on your computer? I recall you said you uninstalled SupportAssist on your Inspiron 3671 / Win 11 laptop in your 11-May-2022 thread Application Installation Error 0x000135, but I'm not sure if you ever reinstalled this Dell software.

I can't tell you the exact function of the Dell Data Vault Service API, but Dell Data Vault (DDV) is a component of Dell SupportAssist. The Dell Data Vault Service API is mentioned briefly in the "Frequently Asked Questions" of the SupportAssist v3.11.4 User Guide  (scroll down to subsection titled "SupportAssist Hardware Scan").  If I understand correctly, DDV collects information on system health, performance, and the status of your Dell applications and provides this telemetry to Dell. In more general terms, API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is an intermediary software interface that allows two applications to talk to each other.

If you've reinstalled SupportAssist and DDVCollectorSvcApi.exe is using high amounts of CPU and/or RAM on your Inspiron 3671 see my 13-Jun-2021 thread Dell Data Vault (DDVDataCollector) High CPU Usage for comments about the Privacy settings in SupportAssist.  Note that I currently have my Dell SupportAssist and Dell TechHub services disabled at Start | Windows Administrative Tools | Services to prevent SupportAssist from launching automatically at boot-up, and I normally use Dell Update v4.x to check for Dell software and driver updates.

DDV : Dell Data volt Collector is a service that SupportAssist requires, Disabling it would SupportAssist to Malfunction. If you have already removed supportassist than you can delete the process
